Este proyecto ERASMUS+ KA2 surge tras las erupciones volcánicas registradas en la isla del Hierro (Canarias. España) en 2011 y en el volcán del Etna (Sicilia. Italia) en 2017. En sus proximidades habitan estudiantes que añaden a su ciudadanía europea una singularidad: vivir al otro lado del volcán.

La enorme belleza de estos espacios europeos y su interés científico, histórico, económico y cultural les ha merecido su declaración, según el caso, como Geoparques y/o Patrimonio Mundial de la Humanidad por la UNESCO, constituyendo un patrimonio cultural europeo de gran valor social y educativo, una de las prioridades horizontales de este proyecto.

Los testimonios de los alumnos y profesores afectados directamente por las erupciones, nos afianzó en la idea de desarrollar este proyecto ERASMUS+ entre alumnos y profesores europeos que viven próximos a zonas con riesgo volcánico. Analizaremos la génesis geológica de estos fenómenos, elaborando material pedagógico sobre los valores naturales, históricos, económicos y culturales del entorno para ayudar a la Comunidad Educativa en su tarea de aprovechar y disfrutar de este gran patrimonio europeo y estar preparados ante las erupciones.

Es un proyecto entre el IES José Marín de Vélez Rubio (Andalucía. España) cercano al Geoparque volcánico inactivo de Cabo de Gata de gran valor científico, natural y cultural. Y próximo a 35 abrigos rocosos pertenecientes al Arte Rupestre del Arco Mediterráneo de la Península Ibérica declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO; la Escola Secundaria das Lajas do Pico en la isla del mismo nombre en las Islas Azores (Portugal) localizada en una zona volcánica activa próxima al volcán Do Pico y un Paisaje Vitícula declarado Patrimonio Mundial de la Humanidad por la UNESCO; el IES Villa de Firgas en la Isla volcánica de Gran Canaria (España) próximo a los geoparques volcánicos de Lanzarote y Archipiélago Chinijo e Isla del Hierro; y el Istituto di Istruzione Superiore A.Ruiz de Augusta. Sicilia (Italia) próximo al volcán Etna.

This ERASMUS + KA2 project arises after the volcanic eruptions recorded on the island of El Hierro (Canary Islands, Spain) in 2011 and on the Etna volcano (Sicily, Italy) in 2017. In its vicinity live students who add to their European citizenship a singularity: live on the other side of the volcano.

The enormous beauty of these European spaces and their scientific, historical, economic and cultural interest has earned them their declaration, as the case may be, as Geoparks and / or World Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, constituting a European cultural heritage of great social value and educational, one of the horizontal priorities of this project.

The testimonies of the students and professors directly affected by the eruptions, strengthened us in the idea of developing this ERASMUS + project among European students and professors who live close to areas with volcanic risk. We will analyze the geological genesis of these phenomena, elaborating pedagogical material on the natural, historical, economic and cultural values of the environment to help the Educational Community in its task of taking advantage of and enjoying this great European heritage and be prepared for the eruptions.

It is a project between the IES José Marín de Vélez Rubio (Andalusia, Spain) close to the inactive volcanic Geopark of Cabo de Gata of great scientific, natural and cultural value. And close to 35 rocky shelters belonging to the Rock Art of the Mediterranean Arc of the Iberian Peninsula declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO; the Secondary School das Lajas do Pico on the island of the same name in the Azores Islands (Portugal) located in an active volcanic area near the volcano Do Pico and a Viticulture Landscape declared World Heritage by UNESCO; the IES Villa de Firgas on the volcanic island of Gran Canaria (Spain) next to the volcanic geoparks of Lanzarote and Chinijo Archipelago and Isla del Hierro; and the Istituto di Istruzione Superiore A. Ruíz de Augusta. Sicily (Italy) next to Mount Etna.
